Coronavirus update!

Duke City has suspended games until 4/11/20 and is currently working on communications about practices. I have decided to cancel practices until 3/15 while we wait for further guidance from NMYSA and DCSL which should come this afternoon.

It was also sent through Blue Sombrero so hopefully everyone got it.

Good afternoon AYSO United NM players, parents and volunteers,

Duke City Soccer League has suspended all games until April 11, 2020. We as a club are in agreement with this decision and support it.

As far as practices go, We are cancelling all practices and team activities through this Sunday March 15th while we await further guidance from both Duke City Soccer League and NMYSA. Currently information is very fluid and changing by the minute.  The health, safety and well being of our players, their families and our volunteers are our highest priority.

We will provide additional information as it is received.

As the number of Coronavirus cases identified has been growing, we also wanted to give you some best practices, tips and resources to keep you updated and well.

Our main priority is the well-being of families, so as you are starting your seasons, please know that AYSO is keeping abreast of all updates related to the outbreak. Our goal is to provide all members with timely and relevant information on Coronavirus.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

For AYSO specific events, we also recommend that instead of end of game handshakes, you do fist bumps or elbow to elbow and please remind your players not to share their water bottles or snacks with each other.
